OpenClaw drops a release that makes production agents more reliable
Should you update OpenClaw this week?

Hi ,
OpenClaw 5.12 just dropped.
Leaner installs. Smarter Telegram. Smoother Codex and OpenAI paths. Hardened security across the board.
1,812 commits since the last release. A community of contributors making the world's most flexible AI agent platform better every week.
Today's prompt builds a discovery call script that qualifies prospects while closing more deals. Future Friday covers the AI Brand Twin and what happens when a brand's entire marketing intelligence becomes a model. Then the full breakdown on what OpenClaw just shipped.
๐ฅ Prompt of the Day ๐ฅ
AI Discovery Call Script Builder: Use ChatGPT or Claude
Create one question framework that qualifies and sells.
"Act as a consultative sales specialist. Create one discovery call script for [SERVICE/PRODUCT] that qualifies prospects while building trust.
Essential Details:
Offer Type: [WHAT YOU SELL]
Call Duration: [TARGET LENGTH]
Qualification Criteria: [MUST-HAVE FACTORS]
Disqualification Signals: [RED FLAGS]
Close Style: [SOFT/DIRECT]
Follow-Up Process: [NEXT STEP]
Create one discovery script including:
Rapport-building opener
Situation assessment questions (5)
Pain amplification sequence
Budget and timeline qualifiers
Transition to recommendation
Next step close with urgency
Better questions close more deals."
Variables:
SERVICE/PRODUCT: What you sell
WHAT YOU SELL: Specific offer or service type
TARGET LENGTH: How long the call should run
MUST-HAVE FACTORS: What makes someone a good fit
RED FLAGS: What disqualifies a prospect immediately
CLOSE STYLE: Soft next step or direct close
Why This Works:
Bad discovery calls waste time on wrong-fit prospects and lose right-fit ones by not asking the right questions. AI builds the script that opens with rapport, assesses the situation, amplifies the pain, qualifies budget and timeline, and transitions to a recommendation naturally. Better questions reveal better prospects and close more of them.

The AI Brand Twin Arrives by 2029
Right now AI writes your content.
By 2029 AI thinks like your brand. And the difference between the two is everything.
What An AI Brand Twin Is
Not a chatbot that writes posts.
A model trained on everything your brand has ever said. Past ads. Emails. Landing pages. Customer data. Tone of voice guidelines. Performance results across every campaign.
It learns what your brand says. How it says it. And critically โ what kinds of messages actually work with your specific audience.
What It Could Do
Generate campaign ideas that match your brand voice automatically. Not just copy โ strategy.
Test different headlines and predict which ones convert before the campaign goes live.
Keep content consistent across every channel โ Instagram, email, website, ads โ so everything sounds like it came from the same strategic mind.
Flag when a piece of content is off-brand before a human ever has to catch it.
Why It Is Interesting
The shift is from content generation to brand intelligence.
The question stops being "Can AI write this?" and becomes "Can AI think like this brand and make better marketing decisions?"
That is a fundamentally different product than a writing assistant. It is a virtual CMO that knows your brand better than most of your team members do.
Why It Doesn't Exist Yet
Pieces of it exist in 2026. Tools that generate copy. Tools that analyze data. Tools that simulate customer reactions.
What doesn't exist yet is a single trusted brand brain that operates across strategy, creative, and optimization simultaneously without requiring a human to hold it all together.
The biggest gap is reliability. Marketers still need humans to control positioning, approve messaging, and protect brand quality. The tools are not yet trustworthy enough to operate without that oversight.
By 2029 that gap closes significantly. Not because humans stop being needed. Because the models get good enough that human oversight becomes a quality check rather than a full-time job.
What Changes Everything
When an AI model can hold a brand's entire voice, history, audience data, and performance results in a single system โ testing a campaign before it launches stops being a nice-to-have.
It becomes the default. You run the idea through the twin. It tells you how your audience reacts. You launch the version most likely to work.
Faster testing. Lower costs. More predictive customer modeling. Less guesswork. More accountability.
What This Means
Every campaign you run today. Every email that converts. Every piece of content that sounds unmistakably like your brand.
That is your training data.
The brands treating that archive seriously in 2026 will have a twin that actually sounds like them. The ones that don't will have a generic model with a logo on it.
Did You Know?
Students who use AI to generate first drafts and then heavily edit them score higher on writing assessments than both students who write entirely without AI and students who submit AI output with minimal editing โ suggesting the highest value comes from using AI as a thinking partner rather than a replacement.

OpenClaw 2026.5.12 Ships โ The Open Source AI Agent Platform Gets Leaner and More Reliable
OpenClaw just dropped its biggest release in months.
Version 2026.5.12. 1,812 commits to main since the last release. Available now on npm.
The headlines are leaner installs, more resilient Telegram, smoother Codex and OpenAI paths, and a broad security hardening pass across the platform.
Leaner Installs
WhatsApp, Slack, Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic Vertex, and related provider dependencies moved out of the core runtime.
Installs now only pull what you actually use. Smaller footprint. Faster setup. No unnecessary dependencies dragging along for the ride.
Telegram Got More Resilient
Isolated polling in a separate worker with a durable local spool means Telegram keeps working even during main event-loop stalls.
HTML and Markdown formatting preserved through streamed and scheduled replies. Group media handling made safer. Reply context cache updated when messages are edited so agents see final text not first drafts.
Codex and OpenAI Paths Smoother
Auth-profile-backed media tools now working correctly. MCP server projection improved. Context engine thread rotation added. Better app-server and runtime fallback behavior throughout.
Doctor output now stays aligned with the OpenAI happy path โ no more false warnings about message tools being unavailable.
Security Hardening
A broad security and provenance hardening pass across gateway, browser, Slack, node pairing, sandbox, and transcript paths.
Windows USERPROFILE now included in sandbox blocked home roots so credential-bearing directories under the Windows user profile are properly denied.
Provider env-var markers no longer inferred from broad string patterns โ API keys now only resolved through structured environment references so unrelated env vars cannot accidentally become provider credentials.
Plugin System Improvements
Plugin installs and updates are harder to wedge. pnpm 11 support added. Peer-dependency preservation improved. Source and git install fixes throughout.
Plugin runtime entries now scanned during install. Dependency runtime code scanned too. The install process is more reliable and the errors when things go wrong are more actionable.
UI and Reply Delivery
Persisted auto-scroll mode selector in Control UI and WebChat. Users can choose to follow streaming output, maintain near-bottom behavior, or turn auto-scroll off entirely.
Rich-only block replies now delivered even when block-streaming coalescing is enabled. Card and button payloads no longer dropped by the text coalescer.
Why This Matters
OpenClaw is the open source platform connecting AI agents to every major communication channel and AI provider simultaneously.
This release makes the foundation more reliable, more secure, and easier to set up for new users while improving the experience for teams running production agent workflows.
For developers: Leaner installs and smoother Codex integration mean faster setup and fewer surprises in production.
For teams running Telegram bots: The polling isolation and formatting fixes are meaningful quality of life improvements.
For anyone watching open source AI infrastructure: OpenClaw's release cadence and contributor volume signal a platform with serious momentum behind it.
Over to You...
OpenClaw just made AI agent infrastructure leaner and more reliable.
