Adobe Firefly Video Editor goes live
Hey AI Enthusiast,
Adobe just updated Firefly with prompt-based video editing.
Until now, you could only generate videos from prompts. If any part wasn't right, you'd recreate the entire clip.
Now you can edit specific elements with text prompts. Change colors, adjust camera angles, modify lighting. "Change the sky to overcast and lower the contrast" or "Zoom in slightly on the main subject."
New timeline view lets you adjust frames, sounds, and other characteristics easily.
Adobe also added third-party models: Black Forest Labs' FLUX.2 for image generation and Topaz Astra for upscaling videos to 1080p or 4K.
Rolling out to all Firefly users now.
But the real Win Wednesday story is about the one small habit that makes AI actually useful long-term.
But first, today's prompt (a community member win...)

Charles Janoah Policarpio: The Habit That Actually Matters
This week's win comes from Charles Janoah Policarpio.
"Small. Just finally got in the habit of organizing my chats. So I can pull it up if needed."
This is the win most people skip.
They chase the big AI breakthroughs. The perfect prompt. The newest model. The latest feature.
But they don't organize their chats.
Charles did.
Why This Small Habit Matters
Most people treat AI conversations like disposable interactions.
Ask a question. Get an answer. Close the tab. Never see it again.
Two weeks later, they're asking the same question. Rebuilding the same context. Explaining the same project details.
That's wasted time. Wasted context. Wasted momentum.
Charles organized his chats so he can pull them up when needed.
That's the difference between using AI once and building on previous work.
What You Should Do This Week
Go through your AI chats right now.
Name every unnamed conversation.
Archive or delete anything you'll never need again.
Organize what's left by project or topic.
Create a naming convention and stick to it.
This takes 10 minutes. Maybe 15.
But it's the foundation for using AI effectively long-term.
Did You Know?
AI analyzing millions of divorce records discovered that couples who use certain emoji combinations in texts have predictable relationship failure patterns months before problems become apparent.
ποΈ Breaking AI News ποΈ
Adobe updated Firefly with a new video editor that supports prompt-based editing and added third-party models for image and video generation.
What's New
Prompt-Based Video Editing:
Until now, Firefly only supported prompt-based generation. You'd create a video from a prompt, and if any part wasn't right, you'd have to regenerate the entire clip.
Now you can edit specific video elements using text prompts.
Change colors: "Change the sky to overcast and lower the contrast"
Adjust camera angles: "Zoom in slightly on the main subject"
Modify lighting, backgrounds, and other elements without regenerating everything.
The new editor uses Runway's Aleph model to execute these precise edits.
Timeline View:
New timeline interface lets you adjust frames, sounds, and other characteristics easily.
More control over the final output without starting over.
Adobe Firefly Video Model Enhancements:
Upload a start frame and a reference video of a camera motion.
Tell Firefly to recreate that camera angle for the video you're working on.
Useful for maintaining consistent camera movements across multiple clips.
Third-Party Model Integration
Adobe is adding two major third-party models:
Black Forest Labs' FLUX.2:
Image generation model now available in Firefly.
Available immediately across all Firefly platforms.
Adobe Express users get access starting January.
Topaz Labs' Astra:
Video upscaling model.
Upscale videos to 1080p or 4K.
Improves quality of generated content.
Collaborative Boards Feature:
New collaboration tools coming to Firefly.
Details weren't fully disclosed yet.
Availability
The new video editor was announced in October in private beta.
Now rolling out to all users.
Unlimited Generations Promotion
Adobe is offering unlimited generations from all image models and the Adobe Firefly Video Model in the Firefly app until January 15.
Available to subscribers of:
Firefly Pro
Firefly Premium
7,000-credit plan
50,000-credit plan
This is a limited-time promotion to drive engagement.
What This Means for Creators
If you're creating video content with AI, prompt-based editing changes the workflow.
Old way: Generate video. If something's wrong, regenerate entire clip. Repeat until acceptable.
New way: Generate video. Edit specific elements with prompts. Fine-tune without starting over.
Faster iteration. More control. Less wasted generation credits.
The addition of FLUX.2 and Topaz Astra means you can stay inside Firefly for more of your workflow.
Generate images with FLUX.2. Create videos with Firefly Video Model. Upscale with Topaz Astra. Edit everything with prompts.
Less tool-switching. More integrated workflow.
The Competitive Landscape
Adobe is competing with:
Runway: Leading AI video platform. Strong on generation and editing.
Pika: Fast-growing video generation tool. Known for ease of use.
Stability AI: Open-source models. Popular with developers.
Midjourney (potentially): Rumored to be working on video.
Adobe's advantage is ecosystem integration. If you're already using Adobe Creative Cloud, Firefly fits naturally into your workflow.
But standalone tools like Runway are often faster and more specialized.
Adobe is trying to balance power, integration, and accessibility.

Over to You...
What video project would move your business forward if you could create and edit it in half the time?
Share what you'd make.
To efficient editing,
